Advance tickets sales:

Royksopp, scary owls, flock.

Headed out to see Royksopp at leeds uni last night with glennkenobi, jofox15and raachi. They came on with one of them wearing what looked like an old bath-robe, and the other in a space head and robe, (basically a big perspex bubble with tubes coming out of it). They started with 'Royksopp Forever', did "Sombre Detune" and then "This Must be It" which nearly gave me a heart attack as a woman came onstage wearing a big mask and started to sing. For a bit jofox15 and I were convinced the vocalist was Karin Dreijer Andersson. Sadly, I realised it was Anneli Drecker, who I had seen performing with Royksopp before. It didn't really matter though as she's a superb vocalist anyway - it would have made it just a bit more special if it was Karin D-A. I can't remember the order of the songs but others played were: "Alpha Male", "Happy Up Here", "Eple", "Girl and the Robot" - complete with robot duet which was awesome!:), "Tricky Tricky" - in which Anneli Drecker sported a highly disturbing owl costume with huge UV eyes! The absolute highlight of the gig was the amazing "What Else is there" (similar to the Vitalic remix of the track) with Anneli Drecker wearing what looked to be a red riding hood costume with wings and wearing a bird mask with a huge beak. This coupled with the aforementioned scary owl costume made me heartily glad I have never touched hallucinogens as it would have totally freaked me out! They finished at 10.15 but then came back on and did an encore playing a few more tracks from Melody A.M. and a couple of others I didn't recognise - possibly new ones from the upcoming 'Senior' album (which I can't wait to hear).

In short, it was absolutely brilliant and having it in the Stylus instead of the dreadful Refectory made it better as I was able to see clearly and the sound was fantastic. I am positively itching to see Royksopp again and hoping that they will appear at a festival sometime next year, hopefully with The Knife or Fever Ray. Am gutted I am missing the Fever Ray gig in London next month because it is Nik's birthday and I couldn’t get tickets for his birthday as he thinks Fever Ray are rubbish :( (He has no taste sometimes!).

By the way - it's Flock tomorrow - I'm considering going but quite a few people are doing film festivally things - I have prepared a handy poll.

Poll #1481113 flock tomorrow?

flock tomorrow?

yes
6(46.2%)
no
5(38.5%)
dunno
2(15.4%)
Flock was ace and weekend good too.

Also new Latitudes album "Agonist" is absolutely wonderful. It's available on Emusic and through HMV. if you likes your post-rock you should like this.

Also - if you didn't know already, I am DJing at ReVolution, The Plug, Sheffield on Friday with DJ L8N from SYN (Sheffield Corporation). It's only £3.50 to get in and starts at 10pm. I'm really looking forward to it.
